In what has to be one of the easiest Valentine’s Day cards or presents to make yourself, we have this Bee Mine footprint craft I helped the boys make on canvas for my in laws. If you have one chils you could make this on a folded piece of paper as a card, but clearly there is no room for three footprints unless you have newborn triplets. There was a canvas sale at the craft store and I took advantage of it to make this and a few other crafty items I had on my mind. The only things you need are clean feet, yellow acrylic paint, black sharpie, and canvas/paper.
Any excuse to use the boys’ footprints in a craft or art and I am all over it. There are a few crafts where handprints are needed, but I usually have to edit them slightly to include Michael. He isn’t extremely cooperative when it comes to getting a good handprint, but a footprint is much easier. A friend with children similar ages asked how I managed to get the footprints, and it is simple. The bigger kids either sit on the toilet so I can plop them in the tub to rinse off, or they sit on the washer in the laundry room so I can rinse their feet in the utility sink. The baby sits in his high chair eating happily, then his little piggies get cleaned off before he knew what hit him!
After getting the footprints on the canvas I let the paint dry for an hour, then I took the black sharpie to make the bees’ wings, stripes and smiley faces. I think the paint was dry much sooner than the hour I went by, but I like to be safe. I would have for a canvas to be ruined because I was too much in a rush to draw! Be careful not to smear the sharpie lit I managed to do on the message part, and to give it a few minutes to dry. Once I was finished making the footprints into bees I made the date and message in the corner, and it was ready for giving!!
