I am pretty sure this year we had more pumpkins than any year before. I bought the boys each a pumpkin (3) then my mother in law bought each boy a pumpkin with faces painted on them (3 more) and then Child1.0 went to the farm to go pumpkin picking with his class and of course brought home a pumpkin. Seven pumpkins. Three were already painted, three we painted together as a family, and the one from the farm sat on my dining room table as a decoration. I had grand ideas for what I would do with them after Halloween, and was excited to make pumpkin puree then can it to last the winter. Come to find out you cannot can pumpkin puree (pumpkin cubes, yes. pumpkin puree, no.) so that plan went out the window. I did, however, get to make my pumpkin seeds to snack on.
I made a few different flavors, but first up was Old Bay pumpkin seeds. I love Old Bay seasoning and do not get to use it nearly as often as I would like. I started using it on my kale chips just to get more use from it! The basic pumpkin seed recipe is salt, and Old Bay is salty but better. I split open the big pumpkin from my dining room table first, and scooped out all the guts. I separated the stringy meat from the actual seeds and rinsed off the seeds for later. They sat next to my sink in a bowl for a day or two to dry off and then I tossed them in olive oil, poured them on a baking sheet with a silicone liner and spread them out as best I could. I sprinkled the Old Bay seasoning over the seeds generously, and baked them at 325F for a half hour. Once they cooled down I poured them in a small bowl, brought them into the living room and had a yummy snack!
This is such an easy and inexpensive DIY project. You can make your own Chevron Tray on the cheap…or you can choose a different pattern if chevron is not your thing.I was able to use a 40% Off a Single Item coupon at my local craft store…so the tray cost me around $5. The scrapbook paper was under a $1. I had the Mod Podge (decoupage) on hand…but if you don’t you can grab a bottle for $5- $10 depending on the size. I also sealed the wood with poly (optional).
In the beginning i had a love hate relationship with the Tarte airbrush foundation ,the coverage wasn’t so good compared to Bare Minerals Ready and it didn’t cover much of the redness in my face.
