My mother and my oldest son both love minions. I like the movie Despicable Me, too, but nowhere near as much as those two do. Jacob is pretty fond of minions, as well, but it is mainly because his big brother is. If Jacob gets something minion themed he is always confused for a minute and will ask us, “Is for Keet?”. When it was time to make a Valentine for my mom, I knew making this “one in a minion” v footprint craft would not only be a perfect gift, but super fun for the boys. They loved making the “bee mine” for my in laws, and this was the same concept!
For this craft I painted the boys feet half yellow, half blue with acrylic paint. We then pressed the canvas against their feet to create the footprint, and then let dry for an hour. Once the hour was up I took the blue paint to finish making the overalls on the minions and set the canvas aside to dry for another hour. After the canvas was dry (again) I used a black and a yellow sharpie to draw in the minion details (arms, hair, etc) except for the eyes.
For the eyes my original plan had been to grab googly eyes while we were at the craft store, but I forgot. The 50% off sale on canvas was too much excitement for me to handle and all things left my brain. Luckily I had candy eyeballs for baking, and used my hot glue gun to glue one or two onto our footprint minions. After I finished the gluing I added the “one in a minion” and the date, and put the canvas up until it is time to give my mom.
